Opening Wink on Mac for the first time

Wink is an early beta that isn't verified by Apple yet, so macOS will block the first launch. You can usually approve it once in System Settings.

  1. 1

    Move to Applications

Open the download, then drag Wink into your Applications folder.

  2. 2

    Try to open it

Double-click Wink. macOS will say it can't be opened. Click Done (not Move to Trash).

  3. 3

    Click Open Anyway

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click “Open Anyway” next to Wink and confirm with your password.

The “Open Anyway” button only appears for about an hour after you try to open Wink. On recent macOS, right-clicking and choosing Open no longer skips this step.

Still blocked, or macOS says Wink is “damaged”?

You may have an older download. Delete it, download Wink again from this page and repeat the steps above.

Before your first interview

  1. On Windows, open Wink.exe. If a blue “Windows protected your PC” box appears, click “More info” → “Run anyway”.
  2. Wink connects automatically. Internet access is required for company research, transcription, and answers.
  3. Allow microphone or call-audio access. Get consent from the interview participants before recording.

Screen-capture protection is requested on Windows, but depends on the capture method. Mac full-screen sharing may show Wink. Share only the call window when privacy matters. Windows and Mac meeting-app testing and signing are still pending.
